Boarding House Reach is Jack White's third solo album, a bold and restless work that ranges across crunching rock 'n' roll, electro and hard funk, proto-punk, hip hop, gospel blues and country. Written while holed up in a spartan apartment using only the kind of basic gear he had at fifteen, White produced the album himself, recording in Nashville, New York and Los Angeles with an adventurous new cast of musicians. The result is simultaneously timeless and modern — a showcase for his sense of experimentation.
